Interview & Giveaway with Vivienne Westlake

There's something really naughty about surrendering to the touch of a man in a half dream state. Is it real? Is it not? In Vivienne Westlake's LADY NORTHAM'S WICKED SURRENDER, two lovers will rekindle their passion, secrets will be revealed and happily ever after is within reach. Vivienne is a Jacob fan (helloooo, have you seen Taylor Lautner's abs?) and her first novella is a scorcher. Let's welcome my fellow Jacob lover...

HOWDY VIVIENNE!!!

Meet Vivienne:

Vivienne Westlake has been reading and writing romance since the age of fifteen. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and when she’s not plotting stories about sexy heroes and sassy heroines, she’s buying a book on British history, watching the latest teen vampire show, doing an art project or singing karaoke with friends. Vivienne is an active member of Romance Writers of America, Romance Divas, and Indie Romance Ink.

Q&A:

Kati: Who is Vivienne? (author, romance reader, movie Jacob fangirl...)
Vivienne:
I am a reader, writer, lover of British history/culture, and a karaoke geek. In terms of books, I am a big fan of Jane Austen. Lizzie Bennet is my favorite heroine and Fanny is my least favorite. I think this boils down to the fact that I generally like heroines who are a little bit sassy and forthright and who keep the hero on his toes. My favorite part of a romance novel is the witty repartee. While not all of my heroines are bold and sassy, I'd say about 80% of them are.

My favorite genres of romance are historical and paranormal. The hotter the better. Oh, and since you mentioned Jacob, I am totally a Jacob/Taylor Lautner fangirl. In the Twilight books, I am Team Switzerland, but in the films, it is Jacob all the way. New Moon was the hardest book for me to read, but it's my favorite of the films so far. We'll see what Breaking Dawn is like--counting down! (10 days! Not that I'm counting or anything...)

K: Tell us about your book (no copy and pasting blurb)
V:
Lady Northam's Wicked Surrender is about two people who have loved each other for eight years, but each thinks the other betrayed them. It is a story of recovering trust and faith--faith that true love is possible, despite obstacles, and faith in one's own beliefs and choices.

K: Tell us about your hero and heroine in Lady Northam's Wicked Surrender.
V:
Simon is a man obsessed with the one woman he couldn't have--and could never forget. The woman who married his best friend. Rowena is a widow who gave up on marrying the man she truly wanted when she thought he'd abandoned her. She's afraid to trust Simon now that he's returned, though she cannot deny her physical attraction to him. Simon is very good with his hands, which makes it bit harder to resist...

K: Who or what book introduced you to the romance genre?
V:
My first romance novel was Only His by Elizabeth Lowell. When I was about 15, I went with my mother to a thrift store and found this intriguing historical western that had a stripped cover. It was only 50 cents and I fell in love instantly. Not long after that, I inherited a large box of romances from a family friend and it gave me the chance to explore all kinds of genres.

K: Do you have any writing rituals? (eating cookies, blasting music, writing at your local Starbucks...)
V:
When I first start a story, I like to look at google images for hours and pick out actors or models who resemble the characters. Sometimes this is easy, but usually one character gives me trouble. The heroes are slightly easier than the heroines, I think. I usually listen to music when I write. When I was younger, it was always Sarah McLachlan or The Corrs. But now I tend to listen to a mix of things: rock, hip-hop, adult contemporary, dirty R&B...

Either/Or:
1. Alpha or Beta? Alpha
2. Wallflower or Belle of the Ball? Belle
3. Virgin widow or Secret baby? Widow, though I prefer non-virginal widows
4. Vampire or shifter? Vampires, unless that werewolf is Jacob (LOL- he is pretty abtastic)
5. Debutante or Spinster? Hard choice. Spinster?
6. Titled peer or Working man? Titled. A rakish lord is pretty hot.
7. Men in uniform or Men out of uniform? Depends on the man & the body.
8. Love at first sight or Second chances? Love at first sight though my series is all about old flames reconnecting
9. Naval officer or Swashbuckling pirate? Pirate, baby! (Will Turner or Cap'n Jack for the WIN please!)
10. Plotter or Pantser? Panster who is trying to learn plotting. :)
11. Writing or Reading? Lately, writing, but I love to lose myself in a good book.
12. Bound books or E-books? Both
13. Authors choice: Pick your favorite hero/anti-hero from Jane Austen's novels: Darcy, Wentworth, Knightly, Churchill, Ferrars, Wilhoughby, Wickham, Brandon, Bertram, Crawford, Tilney? Or, if you don't read Austen, suggest a hero from a classic book.
