Ask Gladys

Want some juicy gossip? Ask Gladys Salt from Bonibleaux Designs what's new and she'll be happy to tell you all the news that's unfit to print, even if you do not want to know. Gladys thinks she has it and tries to flaunt it so the sentiment by Marlooney is perfect.

I used the tenacious Gladys for my inspiration card for this month's sketch challenge at Dude Time Doodles. The winner of the challenge will receive a CD from our sponsor the Technique Junkies.

Be sure to visit the rest of the Dudettes to see what they have waiting for you. And don't forget, there is still time to send in your submission for Dude Time Doodles DT Open Call. Now, here's the sketch and you know the rules.

Top Ten Tuesday (2)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Since summer is right upon us, let's talk about beach reads. When I go to the beach, I slather on the SPF 30, stuff a towel in my PINK beach tote, pop on my super reflective sunglasses(think Top Gun style) and throw in a good book to read (when not people watching). So I give you 10 of my favorite summer reads.

1. The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger- This is a light, fun read. From the first page until the last, I was giggling. It started out as giggling and ended up in full belly laughs. I could almost swear my abs got quite the workout when reading this book. Who knew that the fashion world was that hilarious?

2. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling- Potter is a given. If it's your first time reading it, welcome to the magical world. If it's your umpteenth time reading it, you always find something new while reading. Once the last movie has been released, it will officially be the end of my childhood. I grew up with Potter (books and movies) and it will all come to an end soon.

3. How to Marry A Duke by Vicky Dreiling- In honor of the new season of The Bachelorette, I had to throw this book in the beach bag. This is The Bachelor meets Jane Austen's Emma. The Duke of Shelbourne hires matchmaker Tessa Mansfield to find him a wife. Tessa finds 24 of societies darling debs who must go through a series of tasks and hilarity ensues.

4. The Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison- A light, fun and mindless read. I mean, with titles such as Dancing in My Nuddy-Pants, On the Bright Side I Am Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God, Knocked Out by Nunga Nungas and Stop In the Name of Pants! who wouldn't want a good laugh?

5. Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar- My first YA series. It's an addicting read. Who doesn't want to find out what S and B are up to? What about N or C? Who IS Gossip Girl?
6. Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione- This is the first in her Lords of Deliverance series which is a spin-off of her Demonica series. Recommended for 18+. This is the story of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse like you've never seen them before. An EPIC battle to save the world has begun.

7. The Duke and I by Julia Quinn- Oh the Bridgerton's. This is the first book in the series and it is another fun read. Friend meets best friend's sister, sister is off limits and you know what happens when sister is off limits: secret feelings, awkward moments and a lot of giggles (from the reader).

8. The Rake and the Recluse: An Illustrated Novel by Jenn LeBlanc- Time Travel? Check. Feisty heroine? Check. Brooding hero? Check. Sexy photos? Check. Wait what?! Sexy photos? Yuppers. This is not your child's illustrated book. It's Outlander meets Jane Eyre. And there's pictures. Haven't you always wanted to know what the hero REALLY looked like?

9. Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian- Vampires, Rogues and headstrong heroines, oh my! The fight for the human race has begun. And their defenders are a group of sexy vampire warriors. Recommended for 18+. No sparkly vamps here.
10. The Sinners on Tour series by Olivia Cunning- 18+. When I think summer, I think of the beach, a fun book in your bag, parties and outdoor concerts. This is a fast paced read. Sexy rockstars, their groupies and of course the women who turn them into one-woman men.

What about you? What's in your beach bag this summer? Leave link so I can visit you.

Teaser Tuesday (2)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here's my teaser:

"You have fangs, drink blood, and have lived almost a thousand years, but you're not a vampire."
"Correct."

~pg. 100 Darkness Dawns by Dianne Duvall

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

Monthly Mailbox- May Edition

I've decided to start sharing what I receive in my mailbox on a monthly basis. Sure, there's a weekly meme to do it but what if you don't get anything in the mail that week? I guess you'd have to post on the weeks that you got stuff. So then the whole weekly meme point would be moot.
Anyway, at the end of each month, I'll share with you my book/goodies loot. Complete with pictures.
Now you're probably wondering why there's a picture of a mailbox decked out in holiday decoration. Well, I feel that it's like Christmas every time I open my box and see a lovely package full of books. Who doesn't love getting packages in the mail?
So without further ado, I give you this months haul.

Rub a dub dub

Since it is the last day of the month that means it's time for Meljen's Designs sweet Bubble Bath Bunny to jump in the tub and rub a dub dub. I hope she was very careful and first checked to make sure the  butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker were not in the water as well!

By the way, its official, you may now wear white!

Review: Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione

Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione
Format: Paperback
Mass Market Paperback: 432 pages
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing (April 1, 2011)

They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.
Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't-or won't-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

Book Trailer and Review(May contain spoilers and strong language. Continue at your own risk):

This is the first book of Larissa Ione's I've ever read and all I can say is: Unholy mother of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, this book was AMAZEBALLS! This is a spin off of her Demonica series, which I've never read. But I must say that this book is able to stand alone without you going WTF? Sure, there are quite a few minor characters that pop up from the Demonica series, but I was still able to understand what was going on.

TOP 13 REASONS TO READ THIS BOOK:

  1. It's the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse like you've never seen them before. As in, this is not your Bible's version of the events leading towards the beginning of the end of the world. Your minister WOULD NOT approve.
  2. Fuck. There's just so many ways to say this word. So many words to pair it with. And in this book, all variations are explored and shared. If you're squeamish about strong language, this book is not for you.
  3. It is action packed! While reading the fight scenes, I kept seeing it a la 300. You know, all the blood slowly spilling and arcing all over the place. One problem, the Horsemen are not wearing skimpy pieces of cloth to cover their 'down there' parts. They're in full battle armor. Think of the fight scenes as 300 meets Troy
  4. Ares. This is his book. He is a complete full on, in your face, I-will-fuck-you-up-if-you-so-much-as-breathe-the-wrong-way alpha. He had a human family who he saw killed and his wife tortured in front of him. This really messed him up. His agimortus is held by an Unfallen angel. If it breaks, all hell will break loose. Literally. If his seal breaks, he'll become War.
  5. Cara. She is the heroine. And she is one badass babe. One day she's living a normal life and the next, her house is invaded by military looking guys hellbent on finding out why she's harboring a hellhound. Ares' Seal is transferred to her, which in turn starts draining her life force. But with a little help from a hellhound's kiss, she is hanging on for dear life.
  6. The smexing. Hot, sexy, blush inducing, panty dropping, 'down there' parts tingling, all sorts of hotness. I may or may not have had to put the book down a few times to cool off. Oh, and word of caution, there's smexing while Aunt Flow is in town. Yeah, you heard me. If you don't know what that means, google it.
  7. Thanatos. He needs to get laid. Like seriously. But then again, he'd better not since Armageddon would be upon the Earth before you could say "I'm coming!" Yeah, his Seal is his virginity. Kinda sucks right? If his Seal breaks, he'll become Death.
  8. Limos. She's the Horsewoman of the Apocalypse. Also, she's Satan's bride. Yipes! She is your ultimate girlie girl: dresses, fruity drinks, flip flops and floral print. When you piss her off, she'll crush your ribs with her thighs. Her Seal is a small ivory bowl. If a Horseman drinks from it, it's the end of the world as we know it. She would become Famine.
  9. The love story. Ares has not been with a human woman for centuries. Until Cara. She turns his life upside down and sideways when she becomes the unfortunate human to carry his Seal. He lets his guard and armor down, figuratively and literally, when he's near her. They talk. They laugh. They fight. They sex it up. They realize she doesn't have much time left since she's a human carrying the Seal. They distance themselves from each other. They can't stay away. They sex it up. They realize they're in love. Did I mention that they sex it up?
  10. Pestilence aka Reseph. He's the bad brother of the Horsemen. Yup. His Seal got broken and now he's ready to bring on the end of the world using any means. All he has to do is break one of his siblings' Seals and the others will turn. I am waiting for the day that he will get his comeuppance by a woman. Hopefully human.
  11. "Spelunking had to be the dumbest word in the English language." That is all. I just wanted to share this quote because I couldn't stop laughing for a good solid minute after reading it.
  12. Angels and Demons. Like you've never seen them before. And not Dan Brown's Angels and Demons.
  13. "War is hell."-William Tecumseh Sherman. "Sherman was my bitch."- War And now the fight for the world begins.
Favorite Quote: "Short version: Our mother was a succubus demon, our father was an angel. With the exception of Limos, we were raised on Earth as humans until we learned the truth. We didn't take it very well, and our actions led to mass human casualties. As punishment, we were cursed to be the keepers of the Seals of Armageddon. And with that honor came side-effects, hints of what we will be once our Seals break."

Overall: Oh.My.God. I must get myself to the nearest bookstore and buy Larissa Ione's backlist. Like now! From the first page until the last, I got sucked into this world full of battles, tons of testosterone, fiery and feisty females, Unfallen angels worshiping a succubus, super secret demon fight squads, and hot Horsemen trying to keep the world from the brink of Armageddon. Oh yeah, and the world will end if another Horseman's Seal breaks. If Revelations was this EPIC, I think I would have paid more attention in church.(Blasphemous, I know. But come on! You would've too.) Ms. Ione, you are my new favorite paranormal author. Where have you all my romance book reading life? I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Why must we wait until December? I know what I'm putting on my Christmas wishlist.

Man Candy Monday

Good Monday morning Blogosphere. It's that time of the week again, Man Candy Monday. Sorry for the late post. Join us this evening at 8PM CDT (6, 7 and 9 PM for all you others-including me) on Twitter. Share photos, video clips, and stories on Twitter. Be sure to use the hashtag #ManCandyMondays.

So in the spirit of MCM, I give you:

B.Coop's Smile

RyRy's Abs

Jed'd Chest,Arms&Shoulders

HC's eyeslips

Ian's Baby Blues

J.Depp's cheekbones

Jedediah's backside

RA's voice

Here's an outtake from my interview with the total fabu Jenn LeBlanc. In which we discuss her perfect man. Which gives me an excuse to post quite a few hotties.

Kati: If you could create the perfect man using celebrities, athletes, models, etc. What would he look like? (DH’s parts can’t be used for this man)
Jenn: Oh my. Bradley Cooper's smile. I'm big on teeth and smiles. Huge. Ryan Reynolds abs and serratus anterior with Jed Hill's cavernous chest, arms and great big shoulders.Richard Armitage's voice...grrr...or maybe Hugh Jackman's accent, hmm. Henry Cavill's eyes and lips I think...no, maybe Ian Somerhalder's eyes, he really has the smolder down. I met him as my other self at a film fest once. Beautiful. *drool* Johnny Depp cheekbones and jaw. This could take awhile, plus his dimples are definitely swoonworthy and I've loved him ever so long. Oh, Jed Hill's backside as well, because well....have you SEEN it? It's like two perfectly round basketballs vying for attention and the way it curves up into his...OKOK this question wasn't fair. (But the dimples that must be on his backside! YIKES, you know they're there, even if I can't find a picture)

Notice how Jenn had Jed Hill on there twice? Yuppers! He's her next Muse. Perhaps for Perry. Because you know you'd buy a book with half nekkid pics of a certain Mr. Jedediah Hill. Yes you would. Keep on denying it. I'll know the truth. But then again, I know you already DO buy books with Jed's pictures. Why? Because he's a romance cover model. Exhibit ABs (yea, I went there):

Guess Who?

Soooo....what does YOUR perfect man look/sound like? Sharing is caring.

Guest Post and Giveaway! Welcome Jenn LeBlanc

I am so very excited today and not just because Monday means it's Man Candy Day. Today the super fabulous author Jenn LeBlanc is here and she brought pictures, hot pictures from her book! I have been talking about Jenn's book The Rake and The Recluse since I discovered it. Now, not only is she a fabulous writer but she is also a fabulous photographer which came in handy since The Rake and The Recluse is an illustrated novel! That's right ladies, illustrated as in pictures! Jenn was nice enough to bring some pictures of her Muse, Derek, or as I like to refer to him as DH, his initials.

Now my BFF Kati over at Romancing Rakes had Jenn on her blog and I helped her out with some questions. There were some questions that didn't get posted so Kati graciously agreed to share them here. So before I let Jenn loose and we get distracted by the pictures here is 5 things about the fabulous author.

5 Silly Questions:

1. If you could live forever, what age would you pick to look like forever? 28 which is great because I just asked Mr. LeBlanc and he said he would be 32 so that's perfect because he would be older than me finally! WOOT!

2. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 5 things would you have with you? (and raft building material is not an option) My camera, my muse, my computer...mmm and a knife and sunscreen (necessities you know)

3. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? Lordy I'm like the owl, I don't get past three before I start chewing.

4. If you had a stalker who was a celebrity, who would it be and why? Gerard Butler because I left all of his kilty goodness off of my list up there.

5. If your life was made into a movie, who would play you? Would DH play himself? (erm, that sounded a bit naughty) I want Drew Barrymore to play me. Because she is cute and the only famous person I've been compared too, even though I don't really see it. And yes, DH would play himself ;) He is fully capable of that.

So now that we all understand Jenn a little more I'm going to let her take it away. Jenn, For the Love of Romance is all yours!

I am so excited so be here! I have spent the last month traveling from blog to blog sharing images and stories from my book. It has a been a busy and fun month, I do get around, but I am exhausted! I thought maybe I could share a few of the quotes from the book. These images and quotes are included at the end of the full color print novel which is a special edition made to order.

Some of them are in the ebook, some aren’t.

"His Grace Gideon Alrick Trumbull, the 10th Duke of Roxleigh, held a countenance both foreboding and powerful. His ability to terrify people with his demeanor only helped his business dealings, creating a sense of either security or terror —depending on which side of the table you were seated— and tonight he seated himself clearly on the wrong side of his own table. He had nearly killed a girl.”

“Samson’s grace and surefootedness at breakneck paces was the closest Roxleigh had ever come to some semblance of peace in his life. His head was never clearer, his nerves were never calmer, and his mind was never more unbound than when he rode Samson. He listened to the horse’s steady breathing, the exertion of his exhalations, and the steady beat of his hooves, punctuated by the swift silence of the jumps and the exclamation of the landing, like a staccato symphony. His mind unfurled its stressed tethers with the smooth action of Samson at full speed.”
*RomCon Giveaway Quote for The Rake and The Recluse*

“She cried, she screamed, she kissed, she grabbed, and she felt as she had never felt so much in all her years. “Where have you been?” she gasped, turning her face into his rigid neck. “Where have you been?” her mouth pressed into the hollow at the base of his neck, her lips feeling the strong pulse, the salty taste.

“I have been looking for you,” he replied.

“Don’t,” he cautioned as he held her hips firmly, trying to stop her wiggling. “Stop moving, or neither of us will make it out of this maze anytime soon,” he said gruffly. Her skin flushed, a heated blush rolling from her toes to the top of her head. The warmth raced to her core and he couldn’t bring himself to release her as the heat soaked into his hands. “Just a moment, I—” he broke off, gasping for air. He looked into her eyes and watched the fever of her blush blossoming over her face, forcing another rush of blood...

Does this one need a quote? I don’t think so. Ah Perry, you are such a well-made rake of the worst order. Women at your feet the world over now. As for my muse, if you'd like to see him live in the flesh, you need to get yourself to RomCon 2011 in Denver Colorado. He will be there with me.

So what do you think of my little idea? Do you like the idea of an illustrated romance novel? Let’s chat leave a comment here to be entered into the contest then come find me on Facebook and Twitter to keep the conversation going! (Not to mention I am fond of posting images of beautiful smexy men.)

The Rake and the Recluse is on sale through May for $2.99 and I am giving away a copy of the ebook here, but if you’d like to buy it while it’s cheap, fear not. I have swag to give away if you don’t want to wait and hope to win the giveaway!

One person will win a copy of the ebook and two more people will win some swag, which includes some proof prints from the photo shoots, (images that may never be seen by anyone else) as well as a couple sets of my romance trading cards.

Thank you so much for stopping by Jenn! I am happy to say that I get to meet the fabulous Jenn LeBlanc and her Muse (isn't Derek hot!) at RomCon this year!

Don't forget to comment to enter to win The Rake and The Recluse and some swag. And if you follow For the Love of Romance let me know and I'll throw in an extra entry for you. Giveaway is open until June 6! Good Luck!

Good dog/bad dog

Oh dear, a shelf full of yummy cupcakes there for the taking and no one is around, what's the poor dog to do? Will Nate Owen's Pup Dog listen to the angel dog sitting quietly or will he cave into the devil dog beckoning him to go for it? What a dilemma.

To celebrate its 100th challenge, Squigglefly's challenge this week is Triple Digits, use three of something on your creation, three flowers, brads, or whatever you like.  It's not my teams turn, but I still played along and used three of the same image. Join the fun but be sure to use a Squigglefly image to win a prize and don't forget, they have great freebies there for the taking so you have no excuse not to play.

By the way, I think Pup Dog is going to do a snatch and run!

Inspiration

I seldom do cards of flowers. But I could not resist the beauty of Just Inklined's image of a poppy. At the time, my poppies were not blooming. But since I colored this card, my poppies are in full bloom, at least they were until we had a horrible, intense thunderstorm that damaged them and knocked out the electricity for 16 hours. Here is a picture I took a couple hours before the storm.

Alaskan Poppy

Five Friday Favorites

It's Friday, Friday. Totally gonna get down on Friday. This week has been an awesome week. I finalized my plans for RomCon11, finally bought my plane tickets. Yay! Jenn's book (here I go again...) arrived in the mail. Which I am hoping to get signed by Jenn, DH & Cora aka Lady Francine. Boo on the fact that Ross aka Perry is all the way in Korea being a do-gooder and teaching English. Such a humanitarian. Got some awesome tea straight from Hawaii courtesy of SOS Aloha. So enough fluff, more nitty gritty.

L&L Hawaiian Barbeque. This place is the $hit! The spam musubi is all sorts of delicious. The chicken katsu is breaded and fried and all sorts of heavenly. And the short ribs remind me a bit of the beef kalbi from the sushi place we eat at by the beach. Oh, and the macaroni salad is divine! I'm not a huge fan of macaroni salad because of that weird mayonaisse-y taste but L&L's is super yummy! P.S. Don't count the calories when you're eating there.

Naughty Author 1&2 aka Ashley March & Jenn LeBlanc.

Ashley is the author of Seducing the Duchess and Romancing the Countess(out September 2011) and Jenn LeBlanc is the author of (yup, you guessed it since I have it plastered ALL OVER my blog) The Rake and the Recluse. One has promised me Blue Bell Ice Cream (which I have been craving/missing since moving from Texas) and the other has promised some DH quality time if I attended RomCon. And let me tell you, I was all over that like grenades on The Situation(erm, yuck. scratch that). Anyway, after holding hands and making plans, everything got finalized for RomCon in August. Watch out Denver!

Movie trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: Just watch.

ABtastic covers: So within the next couple of days, there is a bunch of books being released by some of my favorite authors(as of that statement, my ATM card is crying) and some of these books are abtastic. Whether it's a full chest frontal view, a profile, semi-twisty or showcasing the Adonis line(Naughty Author #2 taught me that word), the covers are ABsolutely lickably fABtastic! Beware of papercuts on your tongue. Not that I've ever licked a book cover and if I did, I wouldn't admit to it. YesIWould.

Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalype (3 boys, 1 girl) were born from a good angel and a succubus. They must face off against their brother (whose seal is broken so he turns bad. But he's still sexy and I'm pretty sure he'll be redeemed later on in the series. *fingers crossed*) and make sure he doesn't find a way to break the other 3 seals. This is Ares' book. Yes, that guy from Greek mythology. So far, it's been fast paced, sexy and find myself blushing quite a bit. My cuss word vocabulary has been expanded (it's not a bad thing, now I've got insults to hurl while I'm driving). And it doesn't hurt that the cover is easy on the eyes.

Soooo.... what are you loving this week? A new book? A new article of clothing? A new author? A new dish? A new eating place? Sharing is caring.
