As the intelligence specialist for A-Tac, a black-ops CIA unit masquerading as Ivy League faculty, Hannah Marshall is used to working behind the scenes. Harrison has spent years trying to hunt down the cunning monster who killed his sister. Now investigating with Hannah, he faces a shocking possibility—his sister’s murderer has resurfaced. As the danger escalates, Hannah and Harrison grow closer, and the desire simmering between them ignites. After Hannah disappears, Harrison has only one chance to save the woman he loves.

REVIEW:
This book is not for the feint of heart. It's a large dose of Criminal Minds where there's a profiler, gruesome murder scenes and some serious jailable for life psycho killer that could be ripped from the headlines. There's so much I want to say about this book but don't want to give away any spoilers so let's see what I can do.

It goes like this:
Hannah Marshall lost her partner Jason and still misses him. Harrison Blake, resident Techie is still trying to fit into the overall scheme of things at A-Tac. With the resurfacing of a crazed serial killer who gets off on slowly bleeding out and torturing his victims, Hannah and Harrison must try to catch the killer before the people closest to them end up mock-crucified and bleeding to death. Gruesome right?

Harrison realizes that this psycho might be the same guy who killed his twin sister years ago and so the recent string of murders hits close to home. Only problem is, the killer is deviating from the behavior and tactics of the original cyber killer.

Hannah's TA receives video of a female student getting tortured by an unidentified man and is kept under lock down to keep her safe. How many female students have to die before A-Tac catches the killer? Bringing in some of Harrison's trusted members of his old organization, they partner up to profile and canvas the scenes looking for any clues to point out whether it's the original cyber killer back doing what he does best or a copycat following a script only to change tactics when specific results are not reached.

All the while, Hannah and Harrison are getting closer and trying to remain friends. Everyone knows that there's something there between them even if they both deny it. Friends with benefits? *scoff* Not gonna work guys. Seriously!

Will the cover of A-Tac as professors at Sunderland College be blown thanks to the crazy killer or is the killer part of something larger that A-Tac and the FBI haven't thought of? *dun dun dunnn*

FAVORITE QUOTE:
The leaves rustled in the wind, and she shivered, the vibration running through them like an electric current. She pressed closer, feeling his arousal hard against her thigh. There was power in knowing that the seduction was mutual, her strength matching his.
OVERALL: Dee Davis knows how to tug at my heart, get my adrenaline pumping and make me want to break out the DVDs of all crime show dramas, especially Criminal Minds. Like the rest of the A-Tac series, it's heart pounding, plot twisting, "omg I did not see that coming so I should have my Nancy Drew sleuth card revoked" wrapped in "I will never look at my professors the same way ever again". Harrison and Hannah have been through a lot and with a crazy killer on the loose, it adds to their ghosts. I kept rooting for them to be together and find a way to capture the killer as well as help each other heal. I'm looking forward to what happens next.

REVIEW:

From a sleepy little town in California to the plains of West Texas to a bank in New Orleans to a cabin near South Fork to an office of a man bent on finding the formula for aerosolizing biotoxins in Montreal to a liberal arts college that is a front for A-Tac in New York, I was taken through a dangerous high octane adventure of flying bullets at every turn, buildings getting blown up worthy of a Michael Bay production, betrayal, attraction, adrenaline pumping action, twist and turns you don't see coming. Good grief! I couldn't put this book down.

Alexis Markham has been on the run since the night her whole family died in an explosion due to her father's involvement with creating something that could tip the scales in chemical warfare. She should have died in that explosion but due to her sneaking out to go to a game instead of the library, she survives. Her father's friend George takes her away and gives her a new identity so everyone will think she also died that night.

Tucker Flynn, presumed dead in Colombia when an undercover operation went awry, is rescued by his brother. Betrayed by his fellow operative and losing the love of his life to the hands of his traitorous operative, he's a scarred and closed off man.

From the moment Tucker sees Alexis walking into the cafe where he's having his customary cup of coffee and caramel roll, he's intrigued. He observes the her and her older friend talking, laughing and having an argument. Alexis storms out and the booth she was previously sitting in with George gets blown up. Tucker realizes that something is off. He throws himself into the investigation, going as far as introducing himself to Alexis as an old friend of George.

With the help of A-Tac, Tucker's back story regarding his history with George is implanted into the system in case someone goes snooping to confirm it. Alexis asks a friend to look Tucker up and confirm who he is. At first, she's leery of why he's helping her but the attraction between them starts to grow. Thrown into the mix is resident computer hacking guru Harrison. He helps with Alexis and Tucker's flight from the unknown bomber as they race against time to prove that neither George or Alexis are trying to selling the formula to the highest bidder. Alexis becomes suspicious as Tucker and Harrison are able to obtain get away vehicles, top secret information and anything else to help them get away from the men trailing them.

Alexis's past resurfaces and her world come crashing down. Everything and everyone she has known aren't who they seem and the worst betrayal doesn't come from Tucker (who she realizes is with the government and not a friend of George's from prison) but from her own family.

Alexis goes from not trusting anyone and running, always looking behind her to finding a group of people who automatically accept her as one of their own. At least the ladies of A-Tac do. Tucker can't believe this woman has gotten under his skin. He's willing to stick with her come hell or fire power. As the stakes get higher, the chemistry gets hotter and a jaw dropping secret is revealed, Tucker and Alexis must put aside their doubts, stand together and find their happily ever after. All while trying to stay one step ahead of 2 factions wanting a go at the formula for aerosolizing biotoxins and dodging gun toting hired muscle.

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"Alexis felt as if she'd been dropped into some kind of fractured fairy tale where the evil king captures the prince and demands the princess give him up in order that he could live."
OVERALL: Um, Dee Davis, where have you been all 6 months of my romantic suspense reading life? Heart pounding action, cinematic worthy explosions, car chase scenes that Michael Bay would be proud of, betrayal, danger, a sizzling attraction that even flying bullets and bombs can't deter. Now this dear readers is how you get the blood pumping and the page turning faster and faster. From the first page until the last, I couldn't get enough. This was a series I jumped into and boy howdy! I'm going to have to pick up the first book for some back story.
