REVIEW & Series Trailer(contains spoilers, read at your own risk):

Oh sweet Jesu, where do I even begin with this review. So many thoughts are running through my head and what are or are not spoilers. I spent 5 hours starting in the dead of night reading this book and let me tell you, it was worth having an addled brain in the morning. Ah-mazingly Marvelleous. I thought my fan girl crush on Delilah Marvelle couldn't grow anymore but holy feck! It has. A lot.

Reasons to read this book:
  1. Sassy, sassy, sassy: Georgia Milton has got quite the mouth on her. From the moment she meets The Brit, she's got quite the quip/repartee repertoire. He asks her for coffee, she tells him to get lost. He asks her again, she tells him she's not looking for a one night toss. Even when the poor Brit gets run over and loses his memory, she's still witty and quick.
  2. The Brit: Also known as Robinson Crusoe (after he loses his memory chasing down the ruffian who stole Georgia's reticule) and later known as Roderick Gideon Tremayne, a total Hottie McHottiepantsbreeches. He's ever so persistent when trying to get Georgia to have coffee with him. Poor sap, he'll never see what's coming.
  3. The Prince and the Pauper(ette): As Delilah (why yes, we're on a first name basis) dubbed her book. The Brit goes from being a well to do lord with all the luxuries money can buy to a man who pumps water for googly-eyed women, eating yams from a street vendor, falls in love with a woman below his station, dances awkwardly, believes he's Robinson Crusoe, remembers stories from books but doesn't remember his own name, who his family is and if he has a wife or not.
  4. My Fair Lady(ish): Okay, so no 'Enry 'Iggins 'ere. After find out who he really is, Roderick wants to marry Georgia (all or nothing) but wants her to be accepted by the snooty London ton. He tells her she must act a lady. Oh, basically loose who she really is and be someone else. But then realizes he must give her up and do what duty requires (duty can go hang for all I care). Enter the volumptuous Lady Burton. She teaches Georgia a thing or two about being a lady, especially how to talk; it's hanging not hangin'. [flashback: The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain]
  5. There's a mystery afoot. If you haven't read FOREVER MINE, you're missing out. Roderick's uncle was taken from his hotel room in New York City as a young child. He's been missing for a long time but Roderick is looking for him thanks to the pieces of the map his mother had hidden in books. That's the reason why he's in New York in the first place.
  6. Holy feck: Feck, feck, feck! Everyone in the book likes to use that word and you'll be using it instead.
  7. Because Delilah Marvelle Wrote It! Is there any other reason? The woman has a way with getting the reader invested into the story, flipping page after page without wanting to put the book down. The emotions flow freely, the touches are sizzling off the pages and good lord almighty! dark and dangerous come out to play.
FAVORITE QUOTES(what? I couldn't pick just one):
"He tightened his jaw and glanced toward the young woman sitting beside him on the bench. Georgia. Like the state. Who the hell named their daughter after a state? It would be like naming one's daughter Paris. It be-spoke of too much grandeur with very little to show."
"Unlike you, sir, I'm lookin' to marry. Not dance. A woman of little means, such as myself, need a dependable relationship that will forever and a day. Not your version of a day and a night." (***quotes subject to change in finished copy***)

OVERALL: Seriously, Delilah Marvelle's got a hit on her hands. In typical Delilah fashion, she's got me laughing, sighing, crying, gasping, shouting (very quietly since I finished this in the early morning: 5 hours of nonstop reading and spastic tweeting) at the heroine to shut up and give the hero a chance already and wanting more, so much more after finishing. My love for Delilah Marvelle's stories have grown a zillion-fold *sigh* 1 part The Prince and the Pauper(ette) plus 1 part My Fair Lady(ish) equals Me, Lost in Marvelle for 5 hours.

Happy Birthday Delilah & Lila!

I heart her like nobody's business.
Today is a double whammy. Hot men (Man Candy Monday) AND Delilah Marvelle and Lila DiPasqua's BIRTHDAYS!!!!! It's totally cosmic since Lila's name is in Delilah's *giggle*. Anyway, they're both such fabulous, fun and dirty sexy writers. I love them both.
Ms. Lila DiPasqua
Totally unfortunate that I couldn't get a picture with Lila since she wasn't able to go to RomCon11. Someday I'll be able to post the pictures side by side. Heck! A Lila/Delilah sandwich would be all sorts of fantastic.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DELILAH AND LILA!!!
Today is party like a rockstar in your birthday suit day

Five Friday Favorites

It's Friday, Friday, gonna get down on Friday... Guess what happens today? That's right. Twihards will be creaming their panties (if they haven't done so at midnight) during the headboard breaking smexing scene in Breaking Dawn Part 1. Really? Part 1? Just because Potter did it doesn't mean that every tween book turned movie has to do it with the last book in the series. The only good thing about the last Twilight book were Jacob's chapter titles. Anywho, rant over. Let's get on to the good stuff.

This weeks Five Friday Favorites:

December Joyathon. Not that I'm tooting my own horn or anything. The banner is fabulous (done by Ms. Jenn LeBlanc), the authors are totally awesome and my co-conspirators(Laura & Jamie Lynn) have sooo amazing. It was this tiny idea with just a name and then it took a life of its own becoming this 24 day event that I hope to hold annually on the blog. Gah! Just so flipping excited about it. Why yes, those abs on the banner belong to the guy in my header. :)

Pride & Passion by Charlotte Featherstone. Danger, betrayal, pride, secrets, passion, the occult. Hello Charlotte Featherstone, where have you been all my life? And yes, I picked this book up because of it's gorgeous cover. Let me tell you, I'm not a fan of orange but this cover is just fantastic. I missed out on Scandal & Seduction, the first book in the series and have been running all over town looking for it. Apparently my bookstores have no appreciation for romance books.

Forever and A Day by Delilah Marvelle. This is her first book in her new Rumor series. Confession: I have been hankering DYING to read this galley. It's floating in the Kindle, taunting me. I keep telling it that there are other books that I must read and it needs to buy me flowers and dinner before I jump into bed with it. Seriously, Delilah Marvelle is one of my favorite authors. She was the first to introduce me to ass play. No joke. I've had a girl crush on her ever since. :)

GIMP. Okay, I've had this photoshop-like program on my computer for a while now and just started playing around with it. OMG. How could I not have discovered the wonders of it until now??? It takes a while to figure out filters and cutting and dragging and all that good stuff. My favorite is smudging. *giggle*

Model Mayhem. Once again, I lost over an hour during the writing of this post just looking through Model Mayhem. What?! It's the best place to find man candy. Some of your favorite Man Candy Monday staples come from there. Seriously. Like this guy:

Now that I've shared my five favorites for this week, what about YOU? Any new movies, books, videos, man candy or what have you that you've been loving this week? Sharing IS Caring. :)

W...W...W...(21)

W...W...W...Wednesdays is a weekly meme MizB of Should Be Reading

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

So, here's my answers:
***click on the covers for excerpts/to learn more***
• What are you currently reading?
Any Given Christmas by Candis Terry. This is the second book in her Sugar Shack series. The title is a play on Any Given Sunday. It involves an injured football player who is going back home to spend time with his crazy family for Christmas. I just started reading it.

Pride and Passion by Charlotte Featherstone. The second book in the Breathren Guardians series. Hmm, do you notice a pattern? I'm reading quite a few series. Anyway, it's got a really cool beginning. Dabbling in the dark arts. This should prove to be a fantastic read. I'm going to have to go back and read the first book in the series.

Lord of the Wolfyn by Jessica Andersen. The third book in the Royal House of Shadows series and I am now dying to get my hands on the first two. This takes the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood to the next level. I love a good twist on a classic.

A Love by Any Measure by Killian McRae. I'm still struggling a little with this book. In order for the girl to keep her home, she must submit to the attentions of the lord. He's not longer the boy she knew. I haven't gotten far. :(

• What did you recently finish reading?
Sweet Magik by Penny Watson. In keeping with my holiday book reading theme, this was fun, whimsical read but peppered with danger, dark magic and one angry elf. Hilarious! This is the second book in the Klaus Brothers series. Yes, Santa has five sons who help the family business. Oskar Klaus, the youngest and a totally punk snowboarder has been coasting through life flirting with the snow bunnies. Enter Kiana Grant, dressed down librarian complete with the glasses. Read my review.

If You Give A Girl A Viscount by Kieran Kramer. A fun, laugh out loud conclusion to the Impossible Bachelors series. It's got all the Cinderella elements with a twist. Prince Charming is a viscount, Cinderella is a Highland lass, the stepfamily come from Cheapside, there's a shoemaker named Mr. Glass. If you've got a quirky sense of humor, this book is for you. Read my review.

The Price of Temptation by Lecia Cornwall. This was another fantastic read. Adultery, danger, spies, betrayal, treason and of course, sultry kisses and hot loving. The wife of a traitor to the crown is being watched day and night in hopes of finding the whereabouts of the traitorous husband. There's a coveted flag supposedly a lucky charm of sorts and a dashing hero who must clear his name of treason.

Forever Mine by Delilah Marvelle. A prequel to Marvelle's new Rumor series. Leaves more questions than answers but has me wanting the first book in the series. Badly.

Lady Northam's Wicked Surrender by Vivienne Westlake. A short, sexy, steamy novella. Lost love, second chances, betrayal and a hero with quite the touch.

Desired by Nicola Cornick. I've read the first 3 books in her Scandalous Women of the Ton series and thoroughly enjoyed it. In this book we revisit Owen Purchase, now a viscount. I love the way the story starts, in a brothel! But not what you're thinking. Tess Darent is hiding in a brothel and she's got some very important papers. Purchase is in pursuit of her.

• What do you think you’ll read next?

Marshal of Hel Dorado by Heather Long. This was a review request and the premise looks promising. Badlands, outlaws, a robbery gone wrong, a fiery redheaded heroine, a gun slinging hero in a ten gallon hat. Oh yeah. Maybe I'll dub this guy Captain Tightpants 2.0.

My Ruthless Prince by Gaelen Foley. The fourth in the Inferno Club series. The nobleman and the gamekeepers daughter. Danger, revenge, hatred, conspiracy, betrayal, desire, passion. What more could a girl ask for in a romance book?

Deliver Me From Darkness by Tes Hilaire. Grabbed this off of Netgalley because the cover was abtastic. (Judge me all you want).

The Lord of Illusion by Kathryne Kennedy. I've the first book in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the third book in the Elven Lords series. Kennedy has a way of taking magic and combining it with the real wold of London society.

REVIEW:
Dear Delilah Marvelle,
I love you. In a girl crush sort of way. This prequel to your upcoming Rumor series has me eagerly waiting for the release of FOREVER AND A DAY. I can't believe you left me with more questions than answers. But then again, isn't that what a prequel is for? To hook the reader in and introduce them to a world of danger, betrayal, secrets, discovery and  knee buckling kisses. Well, you've got me. Hook. Line. Sinker. You've had me at the School of Gallantry series. :) [leather dildo ass play anyone??]
Your truly,
Kati R

1800
At seventeen years old, Lady Augustine "Auggie" Jane Ascott loses her brother to a kidnapper in New York City. The man is creeping, Edward Cullen style, and she mentions it to her father. He in turn tells her not to worry, he would have a word with his "friend". Next thing she realizes, Nathaniel is gone, taken away through a secret panel in his room. He only left her with a note: I forgive you. What does that mean?

1802
Two years later, back in London, Auggie falls for Leonard Gabriel Stewart, the Duke of Wentworth. He's slightly obsessed with her, once again Edward Cullen style, and he proposes to her. The ton knows that he is loyal to his dead wife's memory. During their marriage they never conceived so he has no heir. Augustine agrees to the marriage but is there more to the proposal than meets the eye?

There's something about her father that I do not like and I can't put my finger on it. Yet. Something is rotten in Denmark New York.

FAVORITE QUOTE: "Did he like her in the way that she liked him? Probably not. He probably felt sorry for her. Everyone did given her family's tragedy, damn them all." (***quote subject to change in finished copy***)

OVERALL: Oh Delilah Marvelle, whyyyy??? December can't come soon enough. I must find out what happens next. Who kidnapped Nathaniel? Will Augustine find true love with the Duke of Wentworth? Is her father somehow involved with the kidnapping? This prequel sets up Marvelle's Rumor series. It takes us on a wild ride from the shadowy streets of New York City to the shadowy corners of a London ballroom full of danger, intrigue, too many secrets and a too handsome Duke. It teases and tantalizes the reader into wanting more, needing more and hoping for more. And I do. Oh so much. If this novella is a precursor of the events waiting to unfold in the series, I hope it gets darker and more twisted. After all, this is Delilah Marvelle's specialty and that's what makes her one of my favorite authors of all time. She doesn't sugar coat the unsexy side of romance. Instead, she comes out swinging that riding crop, giving us a hard whack when we least expect it and we keep begging for more.

W...W...W...(20)

W...W...W...Wednesdays is a weekly meme MizB of Should Be Reading

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

So, here's my answers:
*Click on the covers to read excerpts/learn more.*
What are you currently reading?
The Price of Temptation by Lecia Cornwall. I just started it and it looks promising. Evelyn Renshaw's husband just up and disappeared after being accused of treason, leaving her behind to take the brunt of whispers and scandal. A handsome ragged soldier comes to her rescue after being attacked in Hyde Park during an early morning ride. Will she ever see him again?

Sweet Magik by Penny Watson. This is the second book in the Klaus Brothers series. Yes, Santa has five sons that help run the family business and this one is about Oskar Klaus. He's lost interest in his job and not even his favorite thing, snowboarding, can keep him interested. He's long overdue for a well deserved vacation.

A Love By Any Measure by Killian McRae. An English lord in love with an Irish girl, can love overcome social boundaries?

What did you recently finish reading?
A Winter Scandal by Candace Camp. A sweet story for the holidays. A baby found in a manger, a woman bent on making the father claim and take care of the baby and the said father in denial although the child has a striking resemblance.

Avenger's Angel by Heather Killough-Walden. A new take on the archangel myth, four archangels looking for their soulmates and forces on both sides trying to stop them. It was a Netgalley grab and I was totally surprised by how much I liked it. Read my review.

Once Upon A Winter's Eve by Tessa Dare. A novella of the Spindle Cove series. It's a story of The Disappointment, second chances and a pistol packing heroine. No sheep involved this time.

Her Christmas Pleasure by Karen Erickson. What?! Another holiday book you say? Of course! I love this time of year and Karen doesn't disappoint with a sizzling sweet story that's as heady as mulled wine and a stolen kiss under the mistletoe.

What do you think you’ll read next?
Any Given Christmas by Candis Terry. This is the second book in the Sugar Shack series. An injured NFL quarterback goes back to his hometown for Christmas. He's determined to get back in the game but his time in Deer Lick, Montana pairs him together with a kindergarten teacher. Is there more to life than the game?

Forever Mine by Delilah Marvelle. Squee! Delilah has given me a sneak peek into the novella, hitting your favorite e-book store in December. It's sexy but set in New York City, 1800. A hop and a skip from across the pond where her books have been set.
