Top Ten Books I Lied About

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.
Everyone's got that book they they love, love, love or a book that's been sitting on the shelf just gathering dust. You keep telling yourself that after you're done reading [insert book title here] you'll get to that book. Or perhaps you faked reading a book for school or even for book club. I know I have done all of those things So here are my book confessions:
.Shh...don't tell my AP English teachers that I may have lied about reading books for class.
  1. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver- This was required summer reading before senior year AP English. I mean, who wants read an assigned book for summer reading? I ended up liking it and I cried at the end.
  2. No Fear Shakespeare- I discovered these at the back of my local B&N after getting frustrated with reading several Shakespeare plays, once again, for AP English. I bought them and haven't looked back.
  3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte- I may have used Sparknotes on this book and skimmed quickly through it. All I remember is "I am Heathcliff." I ended up watching the BBC movie of this book.
  4. Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian- I am obsessed with these books. Others may have their BDB, I've got the Breed. This was my first foray into paranormal romance. I bought all of them for my Kindle and finished all 8 (so far) in a week.
  5. The Convenient Marriage by Georgette Heyer- This is an audible book. I could not, to save my life, tell you what this book is about. Seriously. I just got it (with a free Audible credit) because Richard Armitage was the narrator. His voice is so soothing. I swear.
  6. The Courtesan's Scandal by Julia London- This book has been staring me in the face FOREVER. I've only read the first chapter, well, that's what the bookmark is telling me.
  7. The Host by Stephenie Meyer- I have not read this book. It's just gathering dust on my shelf. I only got it because everyone else was going through a Stephenie Meyer phase.
  8. Inferno by Dante Alighieri- Another AP English required reading. Never read it, used Sparknotes and still got an A for that grading period.
  9. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee- I annotated the crap out of this book. It's so flippin' colorful. This is the one book I actually liked reading in middle school.
  10. The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory- I eventually got around to reading it but when it was all the rage, I totally faked it. I told everyone who asked that yes, I had read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. What? I was busy with more important things.
So there you have it. Now you know all my dirty book secrets and sins.

Share yours. What kind of books have you lied about reading, not reading, liked, disliked. Come on now, dish your dirty little secrets when it comes to books...
