Wicked Blog Tour: Interview + Giveaway with Jenn LeBlanc

Welcome to another installment (pun intended) of The Wicked Blog Tour! Today isn't really our favorite day since we're picking the brains of Hepplewhatsit er, Lord Hepplewort, the guy that sent his dogs after Francine and takes mama's boy to a whole. 'nother. level. We want to thank Jenn for letting Fergus *snort* out of his cage.

Meet Jenn:
I have several constants in life that define me:
Colorado, Canon, CJ, kids and curls.

Born and raised in a household of other people’s children in this beautiful state —very nearly with a camera in hand— I never left. I started my own family, got used to the curls, went to college, built a CJ, and started a business, all with a camera in hand.

I always had another passion; storytelling born from daydreams and nightmares. My fingers were never as quick as my mind, and no amount of practice got them there, so it was difficult and frustrating to have this inside me. When my second daughter was born her inherent traits kept me pinned— my only escape the keyboard. Spending my days in parenting chat rooms I got highly adept with one-handed typing and I can still type just about as fast with one hand as I can with two. It’s a great talent to have when engrossed in a scene and in need of a hit of caffeine. I recently finished my first novel but I quickly realized: I was born a photographer.

From the realization that someone ELSE would be shooting the cover of MY book my control-freak took over. What started as an easy cover shoot ballooned into this completely new kind of media, designed specifically for digital book readers.

I live and thrive off chaos and the constant flow of the creative process. I wear shorts and flip-flops year-round —much to the chagrin of my friends and family— and I am currently working on the illustrations for my second novel.

Oh sweet Jaysus. Today on the blog, Hepplewhatsit aka Lord Yuckness is sharing his side of the story. Ugh. I felt totally creeped out and unclean after sitting in a room with him. Thank goodness he agreed to do the interview in a well lit and very crowded room. Francine suggested that I bring along the boys (Rox and Perry) but I figured I’d get nothing out of Hepplewort so instead, I invited Jamie to help me out. Strength in numbers and all that jazz. We’re keeping it short so we won’t have to be in the same place for that long.

Kati: *grabs Jamie’s hand* Oh god. I don’t know if I can do this. Help me...

Jamie: Have no fear. I have brought my trusty riding crop so he better behave or I will not be held responsible for what I do. Now, where is that swine? *cracks riding crop*

K: *spots Lord Hepplewort and drags Jamie, riding crop and all* Hello Lord Yuc-- um, Hepplewort. I brought my friend here since she also has questions pertaining to your behavior towards your ex-intended.

J: *points riding crop at Hepplewort* You, sir have some explaining to do. Before we even get to the atrocities towards Francine lets start from the beginning. What were you thinking buying a bride? Seriously, were you that desperate?

Lord Hepplewort:
It is my responsibility as the heir to the Earldom, to procure a bride of appropriate upbringing, tutelage and quality. My mother hand selected my bride for her family. I did not purchase her, I merely provided for her family in exchange for them taking such good care of my future wife. My Countess.

KindleNook  | All Romance
Kati: Pfft. That’s still buying her considering the fact that money exchanged hands. And why in the world would you let your MOTHER choose your bride? Do you do EVERYTHING that your mother tells you to? If she told you to go jump off a cliff, would you?

H:
Out of respect for my mother and her wishes I do what is asked of me. She is knowledgeable, and knows what is required of the peerage. Why wouldn’t I do what my mother asked of me? She is my mother! I love my mother.

K: Good grief man! Have a fecking backbone. How old are you again? You shouldn’t let your mother rule you with an iron fist. Sheesh! How long was Fran--Madeleine staying with you until she decided that you were all sorts of creepy?

H: I don’t believe she thought I was creepy. She was TAKEN from me. She is a woman, she has no opinions. Don’t be ridiculous.

Kindle | Nook | All Romance
J: Can I hit him Kati? She can’t have an opinion because she a woman! You, sir need a good whacking! Stupid momma’s boy.

K: *aside to Jamie*When the interview is over, have at it. *glaring at Hepplewhatsit* Whoa! Compose yourself jackass! She was not taken, taken. She RAN AWAY and you sent dogs after her. What are your plans now that you probably won’t get her back?

H:
Well I must find a bride of course, since that Damned Duke took her for himself. There’s no hope for me to get her. I’ll away to London, I’ll find a bride there. It shouldn’t be too difficult, of course she won’t be as well trained and all, but I should be able to find one suitable I AM an Earl after all. I do have nearly Ten thousand a YEAR.

K: But you’re, well, YOU. Someone has to be quite desperate to agree to marrying you. What was your childhood like? Did you not get enough love?

H:
My mother taught me what it was to be an Earl. My mother took very good care of me. My mother did everything she was supposed to do. I was expected to follow my father, I had to be trained to take the title, to be successful!

coming 2/14
J: So you’re off to London to “find” another bride? Are you going to bribe this one too? What about love?

H: love has no place in duty. My duty is to the crown. My wife’s duty is to bear my issue. It is that simple. You should not try to confuse everything with love you would be better for it. I feel for your husband, he has quite a great deal of work ahead in your training. Both of you.

K: *mutters* bear my issue, what the feck? *smiles politely* Well Hepplewhatsit, I think we’ve taken up enough of your time. I hope for your sake and for the sake of all the single ladies of the ton but especially for YOUR sake, you don’t go about finding some woman to “bear your issue”. You might find yourself facing down the barrel of a sword or gun or riding crop.

J: You don’t know a thing about love! *mutters* train me my arse. *smiles at Kati* Can I hit him now?

K: *holds out arm in grand gesture* Be my guest. On the count of three? *pulls out glittery pink riding crop out of boot* One... two...

H: *widens eyes* You can’t do THAT to me! Do you not understand who I AM?!? I am an EARL! I am Hepplewort! You cannot treat me with such callous abandon. You have no right to even address me.

coming 2/28
K: Yeah. See, we’re not from around here. We don’t have to play by your rules. The only thing we understand is that you’re some slimy, super shady rapist that should be drawn and quartered and then fed to your own dogs!

J: You know what My Lord you should just leave. Seriously, the sight of you makes me want to hurt you. So off you go, back to your mother. Oh, and just so you know, we'll be watching you so don’t even think about hurting another woman or I will not be held responsible for our actions. Good day sir.

Disclaimer: We do apologize for the shortness of the interview. He was a slimy little man and all sorts of shifty. He might have had some muscle waiting somewhere to just pounce on us and drag us away to Hepplewort's lair. Got the hell out of Dodge real quick like. Didn't even have time to do our usual either/or questions.

RUINATION: The Rake and the Recluse

A woman out of time.
A man stifled by propriety.
A nemesis determined to take her away.
A brother to the rescue.

How will a powerful Duke deal with a woman who doesn't know her place? How will a woman used to the 21st century survive in time where she is considered property?

THE RAKE AND THE RECLUSE Part FOUR has Gideon racing to find Francine before the unthinkable happens. Francine tries desperately to hold on, but her belief that Gideon will find her begins to slip. This is the fourth installment of the completely revised novel, with all new material.

Francine Larrabee woke up on the wrong side of the century. She was fairly certain she went to sleep in her own comfy bed, but she doesn’t quite seem to be there now. Only adding to her problems is that she has no voice, is constantly being glowered at by a large, stunning man who is obsessed with propriety, and she is apparently betrothed to another horrid little man, determined to ruin her, and any other girls that get in his way.
How does she find herself in the past, when she couldn’t even find herself in her present? How does a self sufficient businesswoman survive in a time when women were still considered property for the whole of their lives and what is she going to do with this man who draws her to him so fiercely.

Wicked Blog Tour: Interview + Giveaway with Jenn LeBlanc

Although I had a fantabulous time trying to coax answers out of the Duke of Roxleigh (it wasn't like he was revealing his deepest, darkest secrets or anything), I thoroughly enjoyed my time hanging out with Francine, Rox's lady love. She's got more to say and I'm glad her voice came back because I'm not well versed in sign language. Note to self: learn. Anyway, we talked about Rox, Perry (duh!), Hepplewhatsit *shudder* and finding out that Madeleine has sisters who are now hers.

Okay lovelies. It’s been two weeks since we spent some time with Gideon Alrick Trumbull, 10th Duke of Roxleigh. Today, we’ll be hitting up his lady love, Francine Larrabee. Yes, the pretty blonde girl who goes brunette after getting into a taxi, thrown into the path of a bent for leather curricle and loses her voice, all the while thinking her father is a loon for saying that certain people in the Larrabee family are out of their own time and a higher power is trying to get them to the correct one.

Anywho, Jenn has been kind enough to let me interview Francine. I’ll try not to get too inappropriate but I’m sure she can take it because she’s from our time. She doesn’t seem like a prude. I think.

Kati: Hi Francine. Thanks so much for taking the time to hang out with my readers today.
Buy from:
Francine: Hi Kati! *grins* I’m so happy to be here. I have missed the 21st century a LOT. Is that an iPad you have there? *snatches it* ohhhhhh...this is beautiful! Wait...Is that GIDEON?!?! *gasp* Kati!!

K: *blushes sheepishly* He is utter perfection is he not? Er, sorry. Um the author who wrote your story keeps sending me inappropriate pictures of Gid--Roxleigh. And yes isn't this thing just GORGEOUS??? Your book is just lovely on it. So tell me, do you miss anything about the 21st century? Music, movies, celebrity gossip, toilets? Can't be all that fun peeing in a chamber pot. Seems a bit awkward squatting like that.
F: It's not too bad, we do have water closets, but I happen to know that toilets are not far off and we are already making arrangements at Eildon for the installations. It's handy having an architect in your back pocket who doesn't ask too many questions when you pose an odd design challenge. ;) I do miss music, I miss my iPhone and my Mac but not nearly as much as I thought I would. Gideon does keep me busy and I look forward to things like balls and concerts I ways I never did before because you could just DVR it and watch it later.

It's really a greater adventure, and the world is slowly picking up pace. It's very exciting to watch. Cars are coming soon!! Gideon is thrilled by that prospect, though I doubt he'll ever give up Samson, he will enjoy cars.

Buy from:
K: Hmm... Gideon would seem like a car guy but I think Perry would enjoy it more and look good in a sports car. lol. Water closets? Is there like a toilet in there and how do you flush?
Is it weird having someone wait on you hand and foot? I think it would be seeing as how we do things for ourselves here.
F: well, the mechanics are rather outhouse in nature, there is no flushing- that comes with the new toilets, but at least it isn't a pot.

It was difficult getting used to being dressed like a toddler, but it is physically impossible to dress yourself in Victorian England. I need a map just to figure out what goes where, I actually got trapped in a dress once trying to get into it on my own. Gideon cut me out of it, there was no hope for it. It was terrible.

But for the most part, when we are home, I stick with trousers and Gideon's shirts. Partially because of the ease and comfort, but primarily because it gets a rise out of him. *winks*

Honestly I still refuse a great deal of help in my private rooms, but it's rather like living in a hotel. Except for the...uh...room service. *waggles brows*

K: Inappropriate! Let’s talk about TRATR Redux Part 2. We are introduced to new characters like that fantastic architect Amberley Shaw *giggle*. Were you surprised that he knew sign language? What makes it different from ASL?
F: I was! I was more surprised at how much I remembered though, I suppose it's a bit like riding a bicycle. The differences are mostly in the alphabets. If you consider that sign language is primarily an inherently created language of hand signals it makes sense that the signs for words would be at kinda similar. The alphabet though isn't inherent at all, it’s based on each languages' respective alphabets, but the differences can still be great.

K: *face palm* Oh. I’m supposed to be interviewing you for part 3 but since Roxleigh wasn’t forthcoming with answers in his interview, I guess I’ll backtrack a little with you. Okay, let’s dish about Perry. *sigh* What was it like the first time you met him? I mean, he’s like baby Roxleigh. Wait, that came out wrong. He’s like a Roxleigh miniat--okay, maybe you get the picture. There are two of them. *dies*
F: Gideon not forthcoming? No!!! I'll have to speak with him about that. *grins* So, Perry. It took me forever to use his "Christian" name you know. Once I was entrenched in the strictures of society it felt so odd. We really take that familiarity for granted these days, particularly in America.

Anywho, Perry. I love him so dearly. I was terribly overcome at first sight of course I mean, yes TWO OF THEM, and I was still rather out of sorts at the time. I think I may have likened them to football players and visitors to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. *ponders, shrugs* One was overwhelming enough. But Perry has a very different soul from Gideon, they are both solidly rooted in tradition and driven by grace above all. Perry though, oh he does have some surprises doesn't he? I don't think I should say too much about him. *claps hands* I can’t WAIT for everyone to hear about him!!

K: No. I don’t think you should. Then what would the readers have to look forward to? I love Westy. Er, Mrs. Weston. What was your first impression of her?
F: Westy is just down to earth. I mean, she runs the house like a General, there is no getting around her, her word is law there. I guess I shouldn't call it a house. She is wonderful though. So very dear. I wish she would retire and just move in, but that isn't done, so she continues to work so she can be with us. She doesn’t have kids of her own, I’m trying to get her story, but she is so tight lipped! And oh my how she loves the boys. *smiles*

K: Well, after Jenn sent part 3 I must say: YOU’RE SUCH A HUSSY!!!! It starts off with some sexiness. What the heck brought this on???
F: I was suddenly terrified that I would be sent away. i know Gideon had promised me that he would not let anyone take me, but I had heard that so many times before and I really had not begun to truly trust in him, yet. I was so scared, I just can’t even begin to explain what it feels like to never know whether you’ll sleep in the same bed twice. So I went to him. Part of me wanted an experience to remember, and part of me wanted to make sure he knew how much I felt for him. A little convincing so to speak. I guess it was a bit of a hussy move, but he certainly showed me.

Coming Soon
K: *blushes* Ahem. Yes. A bit of a hussy move but you go girl! Now let’s move on the Hepplewhatsit. I know you probably hate me for asking but life isn’t all about butterflies and fluffy bits of cotton candy. What was your first reaction to finding out who he was?
F: Sheer panic. He...what he did to Lilly. I really just can’t even talk about how angry he makes me. I don’t even think about him as far as what he has done to me. Because I survived fairly well. I was strong enough and smart enough to get away. Not that Lilly isn’t smart and strong, but she was raised in a time when women weren’t rude to men, much less an aristocrat! I just feel for her. That man, that man took everything from her.

K: Ugh. He’s so gross! I’m putting on my big girl panties and interviewing him next. I’m bringing Jamie for that one. Safety in numbers and all. Plus she wields a mean looking riding crop. Anyway, how did you feel about finding out you had “sisters”? And poor Perry. Drinking...
F: Please do have protection. Perhaps the boys should be there to protect you? Though he might not speak at all. Actually, we shouldn’t tell the boys, they might show up and...well. Hmm. Yes, definitely bring Jamie.

Sisters, well I never had sisters, I had foster siblings but wasn’t anywhere long enough really, except maybe Ava. And the girls seem so much younger than me. It’s funny that in our society once you hit 18 everyone under 18 seems a generation apart. But we have become quite close. Though for awhile I was half expecting them to go turning into other people before I learned— things that I should probably not speak on right now. Can you delete that part?

Anyway we are getting along well. Maybe not as sisters, but at the very least as friends. They need more of a mother figure so that’s where I have fallen.

K: I think I’ll keep that if you don’t mind. I actually do agree with you. Okay. Now on to the fun part. No more talk of Lord Yuckness.

Either/Or (I asked Rox the same questions and he gave his legendary one word answers or glared at me. Heh!)

Boxers or briefs
Well...I’m going with commando. Because he does. INAPPROPRIATE!!

Dogs or Cats
Dogs, big ones.

Singing or playing the piano
Oh, have you hear Perry? There is nothing like it. Piano. Oh sorry I’’m supposed to be doing one word. Sorry. From here on out one word. Promise. Perry and the piano. Don’t even get me started.

Dancing or Riding
Wait, I can’t...riding? No dancing. No riding. Yes...riding.

Wallflowers or Belle of the Ball

Alpha or Beta

Virgin widow or Secret baby
Haha, Secret Baby? Maybe? Gasp! Do you have something to tell me???

19th or 21st century
Wherever my Gideon is. pfft. That was Rox’s answer. I mean, where ever you are.

Heir or Spare
Heir.

Love or Duty
Love, without a doubt.

Thanks Francine for hanging out with me. You’re wayyyy more talkative and funner than His Grace. But don’t tell him that. He might have me drawn and quartered.

Haha! I won’t tell, but he might see it! Thank you for having us, this little trip to the 21st century has been fun. Now it’s time to get back to Eildon! I can’t wait. Bye Kati!! *waves*

Noooo!!! Take me with youuuuu. *tries to follow* Well. Damn.

REVIEW:

Hello!
Kati: ZOMG! I somehow misplaced the first email that contained TRATR part 3. Don’t look at me like that, all Gideon glarey-eyed. I had to ask Jenn to resend and she also gave me The Gideon. But let me tell you. Forget about flipping through and looking at the pictures! It started off with an almost ruination and a half naked Roxleigh was pretty easy on the eyes at 7 in the morning.

Did you flip through or did the first page keep you from finding the rest of the pictures?

Jamie: What a way to start off Part 3! Hello Gideon! GAH! The pictures in that first chapter. For once I just started reading and every time I came across a picture I nearly died. Good thing I had my fan on.

Kati: Haha. Yup. I think I stayed on that picture for a good 5 minutes with a silly grin on my face.

Jamie: I still go back to look at and I’m not ashamed to admit it. But, anyway... PART 3! So much happens! We learn more about Gideon and Perry’s mom. And then there is the mystery of the hidden room that Shaw discovered. Plus, Perry is still flustered over his new duties as guardian to three young ladies and Francine finally reaches her breaking point. Oh, there’s just so much. What was your favorite part of Part 3?

Kati: There’s so many great parts, it’s hard to choose. I think I will have to go with:
You either need to find your way out of my bed, or I will find my way into you.
*swoon* That’s just sexy. What about you?

Jamie: Oh, I love that part. But I think my favorite is when Gideon and Perry are swimming and Perry notices some scratch marks on Gideon’s arse.
On one hand, I am your brother and this type of discussion is suitable indeed. On the other hand, I am her guardian and you should be admonished. To be blunt, I believe I should call you out. But in truth I simply want to shake your hand.
Oh that Perry, he’s such a rake.
Sexy scratches

Kati: *giggle* Oh, I’d forgotten that part. How could I forget it? There’s even a picture or two that goes with it.I feel like I might be getting ahead of myself or disclosing spoilers since we’ve read the original and this is broken down into parts.

Jamie: Its just that Perry is quite... well, just quite. He gets us all distracted. But back to the task at hand...Taken. Well, I think the title says it all.

Kati: So another 5 hearts read? I think so! New pictures, laugh out loud moments, the sexy brothers Trumbull, a shady little man who is beyond a mama’s boy and lots of cousins. I must say thought that Ms. LeBlanc, once again, keeps us on our toes giving us enough to quench our need to know more but not completely satiated. We’re still hanging on the ledge, waiting for something to take us over the edge. It’s like a miniseries, our very own   Lost in LeBlanc *wipes drool off face*... Uh, TAKEN. Yes. Francine/Madeleine is TAKEN from Hepplewort by Roxleigh. Melisand, Perry and Rox’s mother, was TAKEN from her home because the previous Duke thought she was a danger to herself. Francine’s virginity was almost TAKEN by Gideon (sheesh! Part 3 almost starts off with a bang *waggles eyebrows*)
Trapped between a Duke and a saddle

Jamie: Yes, she knows just how to keep us wanting more! I will now be awaiting the next part.

Wicked Blog Tour: Interview + Giveaway with Jenn LeBlanc

Oh dear readers. I have been in lust with Jenn LeBlanc’s book since the beginning. I’m not obsessed I swear. Just in lust. It could be the pictures  or the story (I hear Jamie coughing “yeah right” all the way from New Jersey) that drew me to this wonderful author and her illustrated romance. Yes, pictures. Inside. This is not your children’s picture book so keep it under lock and key until they are old enough to understand that this is a work of art, not porn. It is tastefully done.

Anywho, Jenn joined me for the December Joyathon which was the release day of the first part of her serial novel. Today is the release day for the second part of the serial novel and I will be interviewing Gideon Alrick Trumbull, Duke McHottie Pants or Duke of Rox My Sox Off. Disclaimer: The following interview may seem a bit spastic but in the presence of this too good looking for his own good Duke had my mind wandering. Have you seen the pictures? Sheesh!

Kati: Ma’am? Who you calling ma’am? Do I look that old?!!! First off, tell me a little about yourself. Please no grunting one word answers or glaring at me. I know you have an awful glaring problem.
Rox: *glares* Eh hem. Well. I am Roxleigh. There isn’t much beyond that. I mean that is who I am, who I was born to be.

Kati: Let’s talk about that woman you nearly ran over. Could you tell us your initial reaction when you first saw her?
Rox: Panic of course. Who in their right mind runs into the path of oncoming horses? Oh, well I shouldn’t say it quite like that I mean...well. I can see I am going to have myself in a bind here with this interview.

Kati: Now, my favorite thing she said to you is “Compose this jackass!” How do you feel about being called a jackass?
Rox: I quite got a rise out of me, in more ways than one. That’s a bit forward now, is it not. Will Francine read this? *clears throat* Well, to be quite honest, it is the very moment that I knew.

Kati: She might read it. Maybe. Only if you’re not cooperating. I hear you have a brother. Viscount Sexlord. Er, Perry? What was it like growing up with Perry?
Rox: He was always a misfit. I believe I resented him in the beginning but once our mother left I did take to him quite well.

Kati: What is his, I mean, sorry. Since listening to Ms. LeBlanc reading the infamous piano scene (in which I fell out of my chair, blocked my camera because I was DYING of laughter and gasping for air) I’ve had Perry on the brain. Forgive me.
Rox: Piano? Well he is quite an accomplished pianist, though I doubt he has told many people about that, it isn’t something he generally shares, but if it’s in the book...I, well I suppose he has shared it. He has this beautiful instrument, really. Very smooth, only the best wood. Intricate and precious as well. I daresay he would be eternally saddened if something were to happen to— are you quite right Miss Kati? Ma’am?

Kati: *falls out of chair* Beautiful instrument indeed! Now, where was I? Oh yes, what do you look for in a woman? Someone who you would marry.
Rox:
Oh dear, she must be able to stand up to the likes of me. Frankly only one woman ever has. I did not know what to look for in a woman, if Francine had not crossed my path quite honestly I would be miserably matched to a poor woman who would be just as unhappy with me.

Kati: Do you like riding crops? (oh god. wait. I blame Jenn for this one.)
Rox: They are quite useful, you have to be careful, you can’t use them overmuch you could damage the hide and it isn’t proper. If your mount is well trained you will need it very rarely, and then only the gentlest of touches. Why are you laughing?

Kati: How do feel about your story being illustrated? Does that handsome fellow look like you?
Rox: Quite a bit, of course he is a smashing young gentleman. I would be a fool to say he didn’t, you would then pull up images of trolls would you not. That would be a great misstep on my part.

Kati: Who is this fellow Amberly Shaw and where can I get my own architect? (Please excuse the lewd and inappropriate questions Your Grace. I have been staring at half naked men for my man candy Monday post.)
Rox: Man Candy? Well I...What, pray tell, is man candy? Shaw is a smashing young businessman. He will do quite well in society, I believe he has what it takes to do very well in London.

Kati: No need to concern yourself with man candy Your Grace. I notice that when you need to blow off some steam you go for a ride on Samson. How old were you when you got your first horse? Why ride when the rest of the ton get their jollies elsewhere *waggles brows*
Rox: My first horse was given to me at my birth. It was not a Friesian, it was a beautiful imported Paint. My father loved to find new breeds and had a stable of horses collected from all over the world. I learned everything I knew bout horses from him. Unfortunately I was not allowed to breed him because we did not want to spoil the English breeding programs. Paints are famous, of course, in the colonies. Excuse me, Northern America. Francine hates it when I refer to the States as Colonies. *grins* Is she around here? Hiding somewhere? Laughing at me? I feel her eyes on me. It is quite..quite— are we finished yet?

Kati: Yes, quite... and we’re almost done. I haven’t seen Francine. Maybe she’s reading. I’ll be hanging out with her for part three of Jenn’s novel. Sorry to disappoint you. Besides, can’t have you two being all touchy feely. We must keep this strictly professional.
Rox:
*glares*

Kati: *shakes head* All this glaring. Really Your Grace! Good thing your glaring is what I like best about you. Let’s play a little game called either/or... I name two things, you pick one of them. See? One word answers. Just your thing. And go!

Boxers or briefs
I don’t...uh pardon but what exactly does this mean? Pugilists are referred to as boxers in your time, yes? But briefs?

Dogs or Cats
Dogs. Large ones.

Singing or playing the piano
And who might be attempting this? Certainly not myself.

Dancing or Riding
*glares*

Wallflowers or Belle of the Ball
*smiles*

Alpha or Beta
Omega

Kati: You are not playing fair *stomps foot*
Rox: Who...me? *points at self with a flash of teeth*

Virgin widow or Secret baby
*shakes head* Miss Kati, you are attempting to get me cuffed by my wife. (oh no worries your Grace. I may even ask her the same quick questions. What do you think of that?)

19th or 21st century
Wherever my lady is (taking the easy way out, Your Grace? tsk tsk. You're a whipped man)

Heir or Spare
Heir

Love or Duty
If you ask me today I say love. Be that my duty.

Well there you have it. Straight from the Duke's mouth. Such a charming man is he not? All that glaring would make a girl think twice about approaching him but he grows on you after a while. Thanks to Jenn for letting me be my spastic self with Rox.

REVIEW:
Kati: Ahhhhhhh! Part 2 of Jenn's serial novel and I bet I know what you did when you got it: ogled the pictures. And squealed when you saw Perry's name. At least that's what I did.

Gideon & Francine
There are a few things I didn't notice in my first reading of the original book like the Iron Duke Taproom (a nod towards Jenn's favorite book?) or the names of the cousins (Auberry and Fallon). She's got an interesting way of putting in minute details that you may not catch while reading since you're ogling the pictures.

What about you? Catch anything non-spoiler worthy this read through?

Jamie: Well, duh. Of course I looked at the pictures first... multiple times. Then I saw Perry and I got all excited. And Amberly Shaw! I have a little crush on him.

But Perry... I love him and I love the way he and Gideon interact. Seriously, I can just see him goading his big brother and being a nuisance like any little brother should.

Kati: Oh Shaw the architect. He's got a little secret of his own.

I think this quote pretty much sums up our beloved Viscount Pianosexoverlord:
This man was the quarterback, the prom king, Mr. Popular, the ever-elusive crush who didn’t know you existed, and here he was with her, giving her all of his attention.
Jamie: That describes Perry to a T. I’m pretty sure if I ever meet him I would just giggle every time he talked. I would also probably do something inappropriate like pinch his butt.

But, I digress. Part 2 finds us being introduced to whole slew of characters, from Roxleigh’s cousins to two people that are the key to who Francine is.

Kati: *snort* Yeah. Inappropriate. I would probably throw myself at him and then demand that he play something on the piano. I’m getting ahead of myself. Totally hyping up the piano scene. But yes. The boys sure do have a lot of cousins and those two people will solve the mystery of Madeleine/Francine.

Why Your Grace. I believe you've
lost your shirt...
Jamie: Ok, enough being inappropriate, lets talk about the book. Part 2 is titled Found. What do you think is the significance of that?

Kati: Because we found Perry? But seriously, I think it refers to a few of things. 1)Remember the girl in the first part? Meggie's sister and what happened to her? 2)That poor chap Amberley Shaw gets lost in the maze and Francine helps him out. 3)Gideon finds *giggle* a way to communicate with Francine through sign language due to loosing her voice (kudos to Shaw for being awesome and knowing how to sign) 4)And the most important: who IS Francine/Madeleine.

What's your take on the title?

Jamie: I like the “because we found Perry” answer. But along with all of your answers, let’s not forget that Gideon finds that he really cares about Francine and he doesn’t want to let her go.

What about your favorite moment? I was trying to find my favorite quote but I found myself liking the whole scene. So my favorite moment is when Perry interrupts Gideon’s dream of Francine and Perry is told that he is to be drawn and quartered. Oh, that Perry.

just a tad sloshed
Kati: I like your answer. And haha. I totally agree. I think my favorite moment is near the end when Perry decides to become the guardian of the Larrabee girls and find out at there's 4 of then. He then proceeds to drink himself into a stupor.

Speaking of the end, what the heck was that all about? Definitely had me wanting and eagerly awaiting the next installment.

Jamie: Jenn LeBlanc is a TEASE! And that picture, oh just about died! And despite her picking that point to end this part I will still give this 5 stars.

Kati: Agreed. 5 stars or in this case 5 purple hearts. And yes, that picture had me flipping the rest of the pages going, "Wait, there's got to be more." Jenn's done it again, leaving us slightly satiated but hanging on to that precipice hoping to get the full blown fireworks and satisfaction.

OVERALL: Oh you guys, this Rake and Recluse Redux is such a fabulous idea. Additional scenes, gorgeous never-before-seen photos and endings that keep you coming back for the next installment. A dashing Duke with a glowering problem, a silent but headstrong 21st century girl, the quarterback Viscount brother, the architect with a secret and of course, half of the mystery of Francine Adelais Larrabee solved. It is strongly recommended that you read this serial in order. Each installment does not stand alone.

Jamie + Kati Review: FREEDOM: The Rake and the Recluse Part 1 by Jenn LeBlanc

Just a note before we start: This is our first joint review and we will be doing this for every part of Jenn LeBlanc's serial novel: THE RAKE AND THE RECLUSE because we love it so much. Not because of the pictures (oh, who are we kidding?) but because of the wonderful story. We get to re-live it again with extra scenes AND finally find out what happens to Perry. But we are getting ahead of ourselves.

A woman out of time.
A man stifled by propriety.
A nemesis determined to take her away.A brother to the rescue.

How will a powerful Duke deal with a woman who doesn't know her place? How will a woman used to the 21st century survive in time where she is considered property?

THE RAKE AND THE RECLUSE Part one brings Francine to the world of the Duke of Roxleigh, clashing worlds in this first installment of the completely revised novel, with all new material.

Francine Larrabee woke up on the wrong side of the century. She was fairly certain she went to sleep in her own comfy bed, but she doesn’t quite seem to be there now. REVIEW:

Duke Hottie McHottiepants
Jamie: It’s here! It’s here! Let me tell you, when I opened my email and found The Rake and The Recluse Part 1 I just about fell off my bed. I wasn’t expecting it to be there. So of course I did what every good book reviewer would do... I looked at the pictures. Multiple times.

What did you do when you found TRATR in your email?

Kati: What I did with the original...flip through for the pictures and was not disappointed. Oh and I skimmed through looking for new scenes before re-reading the whole thing. I died after I saw the added scene. Then I emailed Jenn and squeed and begged for pictures to go with the review.

It took me about 2 hours to read it completely and was left wanting. Although I do like where she left off to seguay into the next part.

What about you? How long did it take you to read fully minus the oglage?

Jamie: Probably about 2 hours. After I looked at the pictures I emailed Jenn about the very, very last picture (the one with the wet, naked man) and told her that I knew who that was because I know my naked men chests.

Then I looked at the pictures backwards... because, well I couldn’t stop myself and came upon THE SCENE with Gideon and his *giggle*, well maybe I shouldn’t tell. I will say that it’s amazing.

So, 2 hours really reading and I wanted to read more. I mean, I’m desperate for Perry’s story but I do love Gideon.

Kati: LOL. Shhh... it's a secret. Everyone will find out when they read it. It never gets old. *sigh* Yes, Perry who I have decided to dub Viscount Pianosexoverlord. Seriously, that scene is totally infamous and Perry's book hasn't released yet!

Jamie: I know! Oh, piano sex *sigh* Anyway... let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Perry will come soon *snicker* but now we have Gideon. Have you seen the new cover? Hello sexypants!

Kati:
Francine
Oh yes. His ass-ets are all glowy and stuff. I love the riding crop picture and making it the cover was great. I am slightly partial to the original. It's in a frame and I'll be hanging it on the wall soon. I do love the new cover because this first part touches quite a bit on how Gideon (Duke Hottie McHottiepants) goes for bent for leather rides to de-stress or get his mind off Francine.

What do you think about the title? FREEDOM... Can we share the quote about it from the end-ish of the story?

Jamie: Oh, the riding crop! How I love thee riding crop. But, I digress. I think Freedom is a perfect way to describe both Francine and Gideon. Here you have Francine who is basically trapped in this world that isn’t hers. Then you have Gideon who is almost trapped in a world of his making. He’ a “recluse” yet you can almost feel him wanting to break free... hence the riding crop and horseback riding.
She was finally ready for her independence. Funny. My freedom come with such physical restrictions.
Kati: *snort* Yes. I blame our riding crop obsession on Jenn. On a more serious note, I like how you phrased how Francine and Gideon feel. I think for Francine, she’s been stuck in a mindless job (she is after all waiting on a promotion before she gets whisked away in a cab and ends up almost trampled by Roxleigh’s horses) and this sudden change of time and place gives her the chance to do what she wants. As for Gideon, he’s the heir and he’s got a lot to live up to. He freaking gave up his mistress and is now on the hunt for a wife.

Let’s talk about Hepplewort.[aside: Hepplewort is Madeleine's betrothed. She's run away from him and he's set his dogs upon her. And that is where the story takes its turn. As Francine gets thrown around the taxi she's taking to work, Madeleine runs in front of a curricle driven by none other than the Duke of Roxleigh] How creepy is he? Seriously. I can’t wait to find out how Jenn decides to off him or at least let him get his comeuppance.

Jamie: I hate the man! Detest him! I would spit on him if I could. Seriously, he needs to like get a beating.

Kati: I wish he would get run over by a curricle. How fitting would that be? But I’m getting ahead of myself trying to predict his end.

Jamie: I think he should get sent to the 21st century and get hit by a bus. But again, let’s not ahead of ourselves.

Gideon and Francine
Kati: Haha. That would be totally poetic. Or maybe the taxi Francine was in.

Jamie: I like it!

Kati: But again, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. It’s so hard not give spoilers or speculate since we've ogled, er, read the original book.

Jamie: True. So you know what I think? I think everyone should go and buy TRATR Part 1 and catch up. I mean, hello! It’s a great story and it comes with pictures!

Kati: Oh yes it does! Tastefully done. Not porn-y. So for those of you looking for something like that, this is not a book for you. Pervs!

What’s your favorite quote from TRART Part 1?

Jamie: Well.. that’s hard but I’m going with this:
Compose? Her gaze snapped to his. “Compose this, jackass!” she yelled, ignoring the searing pain that knifed through her throat and head as she flipped him off.

And yours?

Kati: Ah! No fair. That’s my favorite.

Jamie: Ah, great minds think alike.

Kati: But I did like this quote about Gideon:
“He was not ruled by emotions, but by propriety, principle, and grace.”
So out of 1 to 5 hearts. How shall we rate Jenn’s TRATR Redux Part 1?

Jamie: Only 5? Well, then 5 it is.

Kati: Yes. 5 hearts because of that extra scene. Holy crap! Too bad there’s not a tastefully done picture of that. lol.

Jamie: I would die. It would be a great way to go though. She should ask Derek [Roxleigh] to pose for it.

Kati: Yes. But then you wouldn’t be able to read Perry’s story. At least stay alive for that.

Jamie: Ah, yes. Perry.*sigh* So is there anything else we should mention?

Kati: There’s so much but that would be giving spoilers and sneak peeks. I am looking forward to Part 2 and where Jenn ends that one. The pictures of course help enhance the story or slow your reading down. Depends on how you look *giggle* at it. Warning: You may spend a large amount of time flipping through the book just for the pictures. Remember, there are words; there is a story. *sigh*

Overall: As you can see, we are in lust with this book. Have been for quite some time. Basically, Part 1 sets up the stage for Francine getting transported to the nineteenth century, loosing her voice, having tingly feeling for Gideon Alrick Trumbull, the tenth Duke of Roxleigh and introducing an icky creeper character who is betrothed to Madeleine (the woman whom Francine takes the place of). Even his name sounds slimy and totally shady: Hepplewort. He plays a greater role later on. So many great characters are introduced and some will play a greater role later. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Again. So we'll leave you with that.
