ARC Review: Bound in Lingerie by Gina Gordon

BOUND IN LINGERIE by Gina Gordon
GENRE: Erotica
FORMAT: PDF
FILE SIZE: 201KB (about 78 pages)
PUBLISHER: Lyrical Press Inc. (September 14,2011)

Being bound together was never part of the plan.

Amie Woods is living the life she wants, but her search for a man who can keep up with her sexual demands has tested her faith in Happily Ever After. Milton Campbell bears the weight of the world on his shoulders, but when he has the opportunity to re-ignite old friendships, it reminds him of a time in his life when he knew how to have fun.

When the two meet, sparks fly--and not the good kind. Their dislike for one another is second only to the sexual attraction simmering between them. A twist of circumstance lands them in the same bed, and Milton jumps at the opportunity to put his pleasure in Amie's hands. A two-week fling might be exactly what he needs to bring back his love of life, and Amie can’t throw away the opportunity to be herself--both in and out of the bedroom.

At first, they seemed all wrong for each other. But when "casual" builds into something more, Amie and Milton must decide if they're willing to risk being bound together by love.

Contains explicit language, sex and a torturous strip tease in leather. (source)

I liked it.

REVIEW:

Milton Campbell is a stuck up corporate type. Amie Woods is a New Age wild child. Basically, this book is about opposites attracting.

Milton first spies Amie naked in the window of a lingerie store. He's being a little creepy just staring at her, hidden by darkness. He later meets Amie at the co-ed baby shower of one of his University buddies. She tears him a new one after hearing what business he's in. His vision of the lovely angel in the window does not match with the angry woman in front of him.

Amie is flighty and doesn't want to take on any type of responsibility even when one of her best friends wants to go into business with her. Her grandparents were forced to move out of their home, full of her childhood memories, due to the land owner selling the property and a new hospital was built. From the moment she hears what Milton does, she gives him a piece of her mind.

Between Milton's not wanting to marry and Amie looking for Mr. Right, you know it's a recipe for deliciously sexy disaster. Amie thinks Milton has a stick up his ass. After ending up in bed together, thanks to their friends, Amie and Milton get hot and heavy. She volunteers to teach him how to have fun on one condition, she calls the shots. Milton is a bit hesitant but if sex is the reward for having fun, he's totally in!

FAVORITE QUOTE: "Amie never expected to feel honest emotions toward the man she hated. But hate was no longer the strongest emotion that came to mind when she thought of him. Hate was not the motion filling her heart at this very moment. Far from it."

OVERALL: It was a great opposites attract story. Milton and Amie had explosive chemistry from the first time they met until the very end. Amie and Milton are likable characters but they just didn't do it for me. Sure, they sleep with each other within hours of knowing one another and Amie takes control when it comes to the sex but I don't think she was aggressive enough. For someone who likes to try new things and wants to take control in the bedroom, she sort of did. At the strip club, sexting Milton, doing it while hiking. If you're going to take control, take control. Don't let the man take control sometimes. However, I would read another book by Ms. Gordon. The stories of the other characters have peaked my interest.

I loved it.

Review(18+; sexual innuendos included):

This novella popped my erotica cherry. Hard. Seriously. I couldn't even stomach all previous stories in this sub-genre. Thanks Jenn LeBlanc for pointing me in the right direction!
When one (aka the general public) hears the word erotica, a woman dressed in a leather bustier and lucite hooker heels (think goddess Shauna Sand) wielding a lethal looking riding crop comes to mind. And yes, for a long time I thought the same. This novella is emotionally packed along with super hot, make-you-tingle-down-there sex. I laughed, I loved and I came to see the softer side of erotica. (Don't sue me Sears. I'm watching an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as I write this review.) And I can't believe this review is coming hard and fast.

7 Things: (and not that stupid Miley Cyrus song)

  1. Daniel has been hiding out on his property for three years, five months and nine days since his wife's death from cancer. They met while she was hosting a gala at the New York Public Library and he was working alphabetizing in the Map Room. He spends seven lust filled days with Eleanor whom he ends up falling in love with.
  2. Eleanor is one sassy submissive. She knows her place but she still tries to push the boundaries of her position. She is sent to Daniel to get him out of his funk. Seven days of sex and easy camaraderie with Daniel has her wishing for the same thing with her owner. Alas! It isn't so.
  3. Maggie was Daniel's wife who passed away due to cancer. She was a top attorney and his older woman. By day, she was a super powerful attorney and by night, a complete submissive.
  4. Mutual acquaintance. Eleanor's owner who loans her to Daniel. We don't get any back story as to who this mysterious acquaintance is. There is a surprise twist as to who he is. I wasn't that shocked since I read DANIEL PART TWO in which all is revealed. (Don't judge me.)
  5. Librarians are hot. That is all.
  6. Holy Ambiguously Gay duo, there's fisting! Don't try this at home kids er, adults unless you're absolutely prepared. Wait, there's a breathing technique? I guess if a baby can come out of there, how bad could a grown man's fist feel?
  7. Eating. What? These people actually eat real food, converse, sort books in his library AND feel emotions? What the hell kind of erotica novella is this?! Got you there you pervert. I know what you were thinking. And yes, there's a little of that going on too.
Favorite Quote:
"'So you,' she said, meeting his eyes, 'are a librarian. What does that make me then? A seven-day loan?'
Daniel laughed as he set his books aside. He moved toward her and gripped her knees.
'Seven-day loan...I'm not sure I like the thought of giving you back.' He slid his hands up her thighs and took her by the hips.
'But what about the overdue fines?' she asked.
'I think I can afford them,' he said."

Overall: Although it's a short story, I really liked it. I don't know how Ms. Reisz put so much emotion and a sexually charged atmosphere in this too short tale, but she did. This isn't just some story that starts off with a potentially great premise and fizzles out to nothing but sex, sex, sex (although there was quite a bit of it). It gripped me from the first page until the last.  I want more! Thank goodness for Daniel Part Two (featuring more Daniel and his HEA)Who knew erotica could be so much more? And why isn't it September yet? (In case you didn't know, that's when her next book The Siren is released.)
